Guest Speaker:

Walter Shaw

Who is Walter Shaw, and what does his story have to do with private investigations?
At 16 he was a "soldier," but not in any traditional army. He became the youngest member of the Mafia.

In 1967, he was on his way to becoming one of the top jewel thieves of the 20th Century. His victims included the Duponts, the Vanderbilts, and Liberace, just to name a few.  A master "millionaire" jewel thief, at the age of 19, he drove a Rolls Royce. At 23, he had a house in the, exclusive Emerald Hills section of Hollywood, Florida.

Between 1967, and 1975, he had been arrested "27 times," for burglary, counterfeiting, grand theft, extortion, kidnapping, and suspicion of 1st Degree Murder. At the age of 27 he was sentenced to 52 years, and spent 12 years on death row not because he had a death sentence, but because he was being protected from a hit by the Mafia. He was beaten, kicked and stabbed. It took 189 stiches to sew him up. He was hung, and had glass put in his food. He lived through it all to become a free man.

Among his other accomplishments. . .
He wrote a book.
He produced "Genius on Hold," a documentary.
He is in the process of producing a new documentary, "The Unknowns - Talent is Color Blind," the story of the Highwaymen.

So again you may ask what any of this has to do with private investigations. Come to the meeting and find out!!!

Who is invited:
Members and non-members and guests are all welcome to attend! Feel free to invite your interns, colleagues or other security/investigative/recovery  professionals you may know such as process servers, Law Enforcement Officers, students and teachers of Criminal Justice and Private Investigative Programs. Spread the word – Spread the knowledge. SPOUSES are welcomed too!!

About the Location:
The Marriott Courtyard has a Bistro in the lobby, set up much like a Panera Bread Shop.  They sell starters, soups, salads, sandwiches burgers and more!  AND have a BAR with a HAPPY HOUR from 5:00PM – 7:00PM. You order at the counter then  take your food to the seating selection of your choice.  We all try and stay in one section, for the purpose of networking.  We are VERY LUCKY to have this place!!!.  They are giving us a conference room for free in exchange for the business we bring to the Bistro.  Although the meeting is free, you will be responsible for your own food and drinks.  Please, let’s show our appreciation and ALL plan to come and eat & drink before this very informative meeting!

Mingle after the meeting:
Feel free to stay, meet, mingle and network with other investigators immediately following the meeting.

**** We need a headcount for the meeting room! ****
